News Release 9th September 2004
Cambridge Gateway Fund makes further investment
in Infinite Data Storage
The Cambridge Gateway Fund has led a £2
million round of equity funding into Infinite Data Storage Limited
(“IDS”), a leader in portable connectivity and data
storage technologies. The round was supported by all of IDS’s
existing institutional investors, including 3i, Braveheart Ventures,
Yorkshire Fund Managers, Bank of Scotland and Scottish Enterprise.
The cash injection will be used to support the company’s expansion
plans and development needs, following the signing of three major
partnership agreements (with IBM, Belkin and a major Japanese consumer
electronics brand) that will see the inclusion of the company’s
technology in several products during 2004.
IDS has designed a range of connectivity and
personal data storage products based on a growing core technology
portfolio since it was founded in September 1999. The most recent
product, the Nexus™, uniquely features a combination of Embedded
Camera Management and CD Authoring Software effectively replacing
a PC and allows a direct connection between a digital camera and
a storage device, such as a CD-RW drive or audio jukebox for archiving
and sharing of consumer’s images.
The funding will allow the company to grow
its manufacturing support and to enhance its core engineering skills
to support ongoing customer development. IDS has just opened its
first overseas office in Shah Alam, Malaysia to provide a base for
working more closely with its manufacturing partner. The firm also
aims to invest in further technology development including portable
DVD recording and wireless connectivity.
